Scientific Advisory Committee

The Scientific Advisory Committee's (SAC) role is to provide scientific direction and to ensure the objectives of WAERP are reflected in the research performed; SAC forms part of our governance structure.

The role of the Scientific Advisory Committee (SAC) is to provide scientific direction and to ensure the objectives of WAERP are reflected in the research performed. It forms part of the WAERP governance structure.

Members of the committee are asked to review new studies and collaborations, requests to access the WAERP biobank of airway epithelial cells, review research outputs (publications, conference presentations and grant applications), allocation of group resources (including disbursement of funds from group grants), succession planning and approval of community engagement activities and strategies. Meetings are held when required, face to face (at least once a year) or via teleconference.

The SAC consists of a minimum 5 people: 2 Chief Investigators, 1 Scientific Advisor, 1 Consumer Representative and an Administration Officer. These members are appointed for a term of 2 years and may apply for re-appointment for a further 2-year term. Our current SAC members include:
