Community Involvement

As part of our research development and planning we invite members of the community to work with us. Click here to find out how.

As part of our research development and planning we invite members of the community to work with us.

To help determine what aspects of asthma, cystic fibrosis and other respiratory diseases are important, how the community thinks we should be performing the research and the best way to communicate the results to the community. This group is known as the WA Epithelial Research Program (WAERP) Community Reference Group.

The group meets every 3 months, for 1-2 hours, either in person or virtually. Their commitment involves reviewing information sheets, participant consent forms, questionnaires and grant applications. They help to identify important areas of concern within the community, surrounding respiratory diseases.  Community members are also asked to provide feedback on research conducted by the Airway Epithelial Research Group.

The WAERP CRG consists of people who are passionate about using medical research to improve our understanding of childhood respiratory diseases. Their interests are how to better care for and treat children who suffer from these diseases; and potentially find a cure.  The group consists of members of the general community (some who have personal experience with respiratory diseases), research staff from the Airway Epithelial Research Group and a The Kids Research Institute Australia representative from the community engagement team.

If you are interested in becoming a member, please contact the team via email.
